Capital costs of a natural gas combustion turbine in the United States are expected to fall to U.S. dollars per kilowatt by 2050, according to a 2024 forecast. Capital expenditure (CAPEX) of a power plant refers to the amount that needs to be spent to achieve commercial operation within that year. The costs of constructing a natural gas combustion engine are the highest of all natural gas generation types, more than those of combined cycle plants.
