In 2020, Manpower was the third largest staffing company in the world ranked by revenue, behind the Swiss firm Adecco and the Dutch firm Randstad.

American roots, European market

Manpower Group was founded in Milwaukee in the United States in 1948 and continues to have its headquarters in the state capital of Wisconsin. Despite being an American company, the majority of revenue generated by Manpower Group has been made in Europe over the last decade. Manpower Group was ranked the second largest staffing firm in the United States by revenue, with Adecco leading the way by some distance.

A competitive industry

The staffing industry has been a highly profitable industry over the last few decades, with the Manpower Group and its global competitors generating significant amounts of revenue throughout this time period. The revenue of Adecco Group reached 23 billion U.S. dollars in 2024, making it the second largest staffing company in the world behind Randstad. Randstad created revenue streams to the value of approximately 25 billion U.S. dollars in the same year.
