Founded by Richard “Dick” Stack in 1948, �پ�����’s Sporting Goods, Inc. is one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the United States. The company sells various products, including athletic apparel, footwear, as well as hardline products (e.g., sports equipment, hunting gear, and fitness appliances). The number of �پ�����’s stores in the United States has also grown considerably over the past decade and a half, reaching a total of over 850 stores across the U.S. in 2024.

In 2023, some 46 percent of sports product manufacturer sales in the United States were specifically accounted for by athletic apparel, making it the most lucrative product segment on the U.S. sports market. Much of the industry’s sales were also generated through sporting goods equipment and athletic footwear products, which made up the second and third-largest product categories, respectively.
