In 2025, around two-thirds of children aged between five and 19 years of age in the Pacific island of Niue were living with a high BMI, the highest proportion globally. The Cook Islands followed, with over 65 percent of children living there being classified as having a high BMI. From the ten countries with the highest share of children with a high BMI, eight are located in Oceania.
