French cities welcomed shared electric scooters during the year 2018. The 6t study presents the implementation, one year later, of this new mode of transport in urban spaces and in the daily lives of the French.
Short trips seemed to represent the majority of shared scooter uses. More than half of users reported making trips shorter than ** minutes, with a quarter of users specifically making trips between * and * minutes. Since shared scooters often have an unlocking fee, trips lasting less than * minutes are, however, not as frequent.
We also observe that 6 percent of users took a scooter for more than one hour. These trips may illustrate recreational use; in this sense, electric scooters were mainly used for leisurely rides in 2019.
