Among the contraceptives used by women before their pregnancy in France in 2021, the contraceptive pill dominates, with more than 50 percent of women using it as their last contraceptive method before pregnancy. However, its use is declining, dropping from 63 percent in 2016 to 53 percent in 2021. The use of male condoms as well as hormonal or copper intrauterine devices (IUDs), on the other hand, is increasing.
