A quantitative study of absenteeism involving 55,763 private sector companies employing 3,632,485 permanent contract employees. And a qualitative study conducted with 2,250 permanent contract employees in the private sector with 5 years or less of seniority in their current company.
The calculation of the absenteeism rate is done by dividing the number of calendar days of absence during the year by the number of theoretical calendar days of presence during the year and multiplying the result by 100.
This statistic shows the absenteeism rate and absences by duration of absence, across all sectors, among the French population from 2019 to 2022. At the national level, absenteeism in 2022 is marked by an increase in absences of * to * days. They have multiplied by *** in one year. Covid-19 and its Omicron variant appear to be one of the explanatory factors for this upward trend. Absences related to this reason mainly lasted a week or less.
