* ACSF survey for ANRS conducted by telephone between September 1991 and February 1992 with 20,055 people, constituting a random sample of the population aged 18 to 69 residing in metropolitan France. The question was phrased as follows: "We will now talk about the last sexual encounter with this person. […] Approximately how long did this encounter last between the first and last activity you just mentioned?"
** CSF survey for ANRS-INED-INSERM conducted by telephone between September 2005 and March 2005 with 12,364 people, constituting a random sample of the population aged 18 to 69 residing in metropolitan France.
*** Ifop survey conducted from September 12 to 13, 2019 by self-administered online questionnaire with a nationally representative sample of 1,000 women aged 18 and over.

It can be observed that men's evaluation of the duration of their last sexual intercourse was higher than that of women: in 2019, men considered it to have lasted 26 minutes, while women counted 22 minutes.
