On June 25, 2021, the law on euthanasia came into effect in Spain. In the first 12 months of its implementation, 336 people have requested it across the country, with the cases of Catalonia and the Basque Country standing out in particular. These two autonomous communities account for more than half of the total number of requests as well as accepted applications.
