* The "minors" sample was created by isolating from the entire set of responses to the CIASE call for testimonies those individuals abused who were under 21 years old at the time of the first abuse.
Individuals who were under 18 years old spanning two periods are counted twice here.
Survey methodology:
These figures are extrapolated from the survey conducted by INSERM and CIASE.
CIASE launched a call for testimonies in 2019 and partnered with the national federation of victim associations France Victimes to handle the collection of accounts. The Inserm team worked on producing the questionnaire, and IFOP was their partner for programming and managing the database.
Sample: France Victimes was able to process 360 letters, 2,459 emails, and 3,652 phone calls from victims, as well as witnesses or relatives of victims. In total, 2,014 abused individuals were identified and offered by the federation of associations to complete the questionnaire. Among these individuals, 118 refused and 91 others had already responded or wished first to contact CIASE or an association. In total, 1,805 questionnaires were sent by France Victimes (1,506 internet links and 299 paper questionnaires) to abused individuals who contacted CIASE. Ultimately, 1,628 complete questionnaires were usable, raising the response rate to nearly 90.2 percent. The survey presented here ultimately concerns the 1,448 abused minors who responded to the questionnaire.
