This statistic indicates the growth of real wages in OECD member countries in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter of 2022. Real wages decreased the most in Hungary, Latvia, and the Czech Republic. In France, real wages decreased by 1.8 percent over one year.
Unlike nominal wages, real wages take into account the quantity of goods and services that can be purchased with a certain wage, that is, purchasing power. Real wages decreased in many countries between 2022 and 2023, which is largely due to high inflation.
