China led the ranking of vegetable-producing countries worldwide by recording a production volume of approximately *** million tons in 2022. India and the United States ranked second and third, respectively. Meanwhile, Spain managed to enter the ranking that year by producing around ** million tons during the referenced year, largely thanks to its southern regions. It is precisely in these communities, and more specifically in Andalusia, where the agricultural tradition has been maintained most strongly. Indeed, more than ** percent of Spain's vegetable production in 2022 was cultivated on Andalusian soil.

Spain, a major consumer of vegetables and greens

The Spanish diet is considered one of the healthiest worldwide, among other things, due to the widespread use of vegetables in the preparation of its dishes. The future of agriculture lies in organic products

Vegetables and tubers are by no means the main organic crops today. In fact, in the European Union, they cover less than ** hectares of the total land dedicated to organic farming. Nevertheless, new consumption trends in the global food market seem to indicate that this volume will be much greater in the near future. Indeed, the area dedicated to organic farming worldwide has only continued to increase. Specifically, the area of organic cultivation has increased by more than ** million hectares in the last three five-year periods, and there are already around **** million hectares dedicated to this type of agriculture.
