During the second quarter of 2020, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the wholesale and retail trade sector in Mexico experienced the worst decline in its history due to the health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. From April to June 2020, the GDP in wholesale trade barely exceeded *** trillion and retail trade *** trillion pesos. The recovery since then has been very remarkable, to the point that, in the case of retail trade, it has surpassed **** trillion, the highest value of the period, while the values of wholesale trade have remained close to **** trillion, in line with the figures prior to the pandemic.
