Beer, the favorite alcoholic drink of Spaniards

Spain is a wine country — part of the famous European trinity that dominates the global wine industry — but when it comes to choosing an alcoholic drink, especially during the summer months, the golden liquid wins by a large margin. Between June and August 2024, beer consumption in Spain reached million liters, compared to nearly **** million liters of wine, in second place. However, it is especially in the southern and central regions of the country where this brew seems to have greater acceptance among consumers. After all, Andalusia, Extremadura, the Community of Madrid, and the Castile-La Mancha provinces closest to these regions accounted for nearly half of the beer sales recorded in Spain during 2024.

The Spanish beer industry
