The data correspond to estimates from the Resident Tourism Survey of the National Institute of Statistics of Spain. Since February 2015, this continues the Statistics of Tourist Movements of Spaniards (Familitur) from the General Subdirectorate of Knowledge and Tourism Studies of Spain.
* Trips to places outside the usual place of residence, for any reason, involving at least one overnight stay and a duration of less than one year.
** Own vehicle includes cars, motorcycles, caravans, or other private motor vehicles used for land transportation, with a capacity of up to eight seats, owned or lent free of charge.
*** Other types of transportation include private vehicles rented with or without a driver, taxis, shared vehicles with payment to the driver (direct or through P2P platforms), non-motorized land transportation, and any other means of transportation not included in the previous categories.

This statistic presents the percentage distribution of domestic trips made by residents in Spanish households in 2023, by the main mode of transportation used. That year, the vast majority of domestic trips were made by private vehicle, ahead of those made by train.
