In mid-May, the World Health Organization (WHO) expressed its concern about the rapid spread of monkeypox. According to data as of May 2023, Mexico recorded a total of confirmed cases, more than half of which were detected in Mexico City. The Aztec territory is already among the countries with the highest number of confirmed monkeypox cases; a ranking led by the United States.
