On September 7, 2021, El Salvador made history by becoming the first country in the world to approve bitcoin as legal tender in its territory, alongside the U.S. dollar. Reactions have been swift, and a large part of the population is skeptical and distrustful about it. In fact, according to a survey conducted in August 2021, **** percent of Salvadorans believed that this measure especially benefits investors and the wealthier, but not so much the rest of society. Added to this is the still evident lack of knowledge about how this cryptocurrency works among a large part of its inhabitants.
