This statistic presents the evolution of the number of international tourist arrivals to the Asia-Pacific region between 1990 and 2023. Between 2000 and 2019, the annual number of arrivals to the region tripled. However, in 2020 the data experienced a sharp decline due to mobility restrictions resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, around ** million arrivals of tourists from abroad were recorded in that last year, compared to more than *** million in 2019. In 2021, they fell again, falling below the threshold of ** million for the first time. However, the situation changed in 2022 and 2023, growing to exceed *** million.
