In 2023, the volume of cereal production in Spain was 11.95 million tons, representing a drop of more than 6.5 million tons compared to the previous year and constituting, by far, the lowest level in the entire observed period. This decline is not surprising, given that the production of barley and wheat, the most widely grown cereals in the country, was reduced to almost half of their usual volumes.
