Car users, the most prone to accidents

Once again, cars were the mode of transport with the most fatalities in Spain. Drivers and passengers of this type of vehicle accounted for nearly half of the people who lost their lives in traffic accidents in 2022. This figure, however, is not too surprising considering that just one year earlier more than * automobiles were involved in accidents with victims, although in some cases these were only minor injuries.

Summer, key to reducing Spanish road mortality

During the summer campaign, road travel intensifies significantly compared to the rest of the year, and with it, the chances of suffering traffic accidents increase. Only in the period between July and August 2023, a total of *** fatalities were recorded on interurban roads, more than half of whom were aged between 15 and 54 years. Additionally, unlike the previous year, there were **** more fatal accidents than the year before, which all seems to indicate will result in an increase in the total number of deaths by the end of the year.
