According to the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and the Sea, the accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere accounts for two-thirds of the increase in the greenhouse effect caused by human activities (combustion of gas, oil, deforestation…). Current CO2 emissions will impact atmospheric concentrations and global temperature for decades, as its lifetime in the atmosphere is on the order of one hundred years.
