Note: for one-room housing, the measure of moderate overcrowding takes into account the area (minimum 18 m² per person).
** The definitions of overcrowding used by Insee before 2002 did not consider the area of the housing. They considered all one-room housing as overcrowded (moderate overcrowding if only one person lived there) and did not take into account a minimum area per person. Therefore, the data from 1992 and 1996 for moderate overcrowding are not comparable to those from 2002 and 2006.
