The financial year 2025 witnessed a massive growth in overseas direct investment (ODI) by Indian businesses. Singapore was the leading destination for Indian ODI, accounting for ** percent of total ODI outflows. It was followed by the United States in second place. 

ODI allows companies to send up to 1 billion U.S. dollars abroad annually for business purposes. This differs from the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS), which permits individuals to send up to 250 thousand U.S. dollars abroad each year.
