According to a survey conducted in South Korea in October 2023, about ** percent of respondents viewed Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the main opposition Democratic Party, as the most suitable candidate for the next president of South Korea, placing him at the top of the poll. Former Minister for Employment and Labor, Kim Moon-soo, followed with ** percent.
Following President Yoon Suk Yeol’s unprecedented declaration of martial law on December 3, 2024, and his subsequent impeachment by the National Assembly two weeks later, South Korea's Constitutional Court upheld the National Assembly's vote on April 4, 2025, resulting in Yoon's immediate removal from office. A snap presidential election is scheduled for June 3, 2025.
