As of July 29, 2026, the statutory health insurance funds with the highest contribution rates in Germany were BKK24 and KNAPPSCHAFT, offering rates of 18.99 and 18.9 percent respectively. Statutory health insurance contributions in Germany are made up of the general contribution rate plus the individual additional contribution rate. The general contribution rate is the same for all statutory health insurance funds and currently stands at 14.6 percent. The additional contribution rate, that is added to the general contribution, is set by the health insurance funds themselves and can therefore vary depending on the fund. This contribution rate includes both the employee's and the employer's contribution to statutory health insurance. The contribution rates of health insurance funds in Germany can be adjusted regularly and can therefore vary from year to year.
