As of February 2025, China was by far the country with the largest prospective capacity for utility-scale solar power plants. At that time, the country had some *** gigawatts of solar under construction, *** gigawatts in the preconstruction stage, and an additional *** gigawatts had been announced. Brazil, the United States, Australia, and Spain followed, all with more than 100 gigawatts of utility-scale solar power in the pipeline. Overall, the world's utility-scale solar prospective capacity stood at *** terawatts as of February 2025.Â
