In China, tourists who continue to travel in the host city or nearby regions after attending concerts and music festivals could spend more than yuan per person on the travel. In 2023, almost one in five music tourists who came outside the host city gave such an amount for their extra travel time. Residents from the host city were less likely to engage in local tourism activities and spent less as a result.Â
