Venues sell out across the country, with local music fans as well as music tourists from abroad paying good money to see their favorite artists perform on stage. Music tourism spending in the country grew by 31 percent in 2024 alone. While devoted fans help boost the industry’s performance, ticket prices in combination with additional costs for travel, accommodation, food, merchandise and more, put more and more financial pressure on the consumers.

Consumer spending fuels the industry
Music fans in the United Kingdom are eager to experience live music. In 2025, nearly 90 percent of live music fans in the country stated that live performances of their favorite artists and their favorite music are a reason they go to concerts and festivals. As a consequence, consumer spending on such events has been increasing year-over-year, since the restrictions of the pandemic had been lifted. In particular, spending on concerts has been surpassing pre-pandemic figures, reaching five billion British pounds in 2025. This data is an indicator that the enthusiasm for live music remains unbroken in the United Kingdom.Fans under pressure
The thirst for live music events among fans is one possible explanation for the growth in consumer spending. Inflation and continuously rising ticket prices could be another. Globally, the average ticket price for music tours has been rising by over 70 percent since 2015. Supporting their favorite artists becomes more and more expensive for fans, and financials play a considerable role in deciding to attend fewer events. Such considerations were named among the leading reasons for reducing live music attendance in a survey from 2025. Among them, unfair purchasing conditions were also mentioned. Resale platforms with steep prices as well as the practice of dynamic pricing annoys customers.
