Includes all operational, under construction and planned CO2 capture facilities with an announced capacity of more than 100 000 tonnes per year (or 1000 tonnes per year for direct air capture facilities) and an announced timeline. Obtained by summing the estimated capacity of capture, full chain and CCU projects in the IEA CCUS Projects Database. 2026 figures include announced capacity which could come online by the end of 2026.

Global large-scale CCUS capacity outlook 2026-2035, by stage
In 2026, operational CCUS facilities were estimated to capture around **** million metric tons of CO₂ annually, equivalent to roughly **** percent of global CO2 emissions. If projects currently in development are realized, total capture capacity could reach approximately MtCO₂ by 2035.
