In the first quarter of 2024, the value of new insurance policies issued to mainland Chinese visitors in Hong Kong amounted to billion Hong Kong dollars with annualized premiums. During the COVID-19 pandemic, entry to Hong Kong was very limited for those from mainland China. Therefore, the demand for insurance policies from mainland Chinese clients collapsed until its recovery in 2023.
