Over ** Palestinian workers from the West Bank and Gaza were employed in Israel in 2022. Between 1996 and 1999, prior to the second intifada, the number of Palestinian employees increased on average by almost ** percent per year. Following the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, the number of workers from the Palestinian territories, grew again by about ** percent a year on average. Following the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, 2023, the Israeli government significantly reduced the number of the Palestinians permitted to work in Israel.
