In the United States, the unsubsidized levelized cost of storage (LCOS) of utility-scale standalone systems with a generation capacity of 100 megawatts and a storage duration of four hours was estimated between *** and *** U.S. dollars per megawatt-hour in 2025. This in-front-of-the-meter energy storage technology accounted for the lowest mean unsubsidized LCOS in the country. By comparison, the mean unsubsidized LCOS of behind-the-meter residential systems was around times larger.
