The respondent samples in Australia, Japan, and South Korea are representative of their country's respective general adult population. The respondent samples in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand are more urban, more educated and/or more affluent than the general population in each country.

In a 2023 survey, ** percent of Indonesian respondents were in favor of a global ruling to reduce the amount of plastic produced. In contrast, Japan had the lowest share of respondents deeming such a ruling important.
