More than a third of the greenhouse gas emissions originating from the healthcare sector in the United States in 2018 were attributed to hospital care. After this, physician and clinical services and prescription drugs produced the largest amount of greenhouse gas emissions, each accounting for more than **** of the total emissions. Other contributing categories included structures and equipment, nursing care and retirement communities, and dental services.
