According to a survey, 56 percent of U.S. shoppers in 2025 observed multiple items they typically purchased at grocery stores becoming smaller without a corresponding decrease in pricing. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as shrinkflation, which involves a combination of inflation and a reduction in the weight or size of products. In 2024 and 2022 the share of consumers experiencing this was higher at 61 and 60 percent, respectively.
