Between April 2019 and 2024, the political parties in India collected over127 billion Indian rupees in donations through electoral bonds. The ruling Bhartiya Janta Party received the highest amount of over 60 billion rupees amongst all the political parties in the recorded period. An electoral bond is a financial instrument for making donations to political parties. In 2024, the Supreme court struck down the electoral bonds scheme for non-disclosure of the source of funding to political parties.
