The drinks sub-sector includes pubs, taverns, and bars, as well as liquor retailing businesses.
The leisure and entertainment sub-sector includes establishments with activities pertaining to motion picture exhibitions, creative and performing arts, sports and physical recreation, horse and dog racing, amusement and other recreation, gambling, clubs, and brothels.
In financial year 2023, over ** people in New South Wales, Australia were employed in establishments that were a part of the country's core night time economy (NTE). Victoria recorded the second-highest number of people employed in establishments contributing to Australia's core NTE.
