A survey conducted between December 2023 and January 2024 found that when reflecting on the events of January 6, 2021, respondents in the United States were politically divided on how much responsibility they placed on Donald Trump for the Capitol takeover. Approximately 68 percent of Democrats considered Donald Trump to have a lot of responsibility, compared to only eight percent of Republicans and 33 percent of Independents.
