Between 2021 and 2023, the Indian government blocked about 400 Chinese apps that included games, photo editors, and web browsers. Another 200 or so apps with alleged links to China were also blocked in 2023, a majority of which were offshore gambling and betting platforms. This was attributed to the country's deteriorating relations with China over the border conflict and a ban imposed by the government on Chinese products and services in 2020.
