In the fiscal year 2022, the central government of India allocated a budget of *** billion Indian rupees for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Since the launch of the scheme, the budget had gradually increased from *** billion Indian rupees in financial year 2016 to *** billion Indian rupees in fiscal year 2022. It was estimated to decrease over the following two years. PMAY was launched with the objective of making provision for affordable housing the poor people living in urban areas.
