Senior housing and skilled nursing operators in the United States reported a severe staffing shortage, a survey among the executives of 39 organizations conducted between June 1 and July 5, 2023, found.  Almost half of respondents in the survey ranked the inability to hire nurses as one of the leading staffing challenges. Additionally, executives struggled to fill nursing aide positions. Wage competition and staff turnover rates were cited by ** and ** percent of respondents, respectively.
