The majority of the fish production in Egypt came from fishery cultivation (i.e., farms, canals, drainages, and rice fields). As of 2021, almost 1.58 million metric tons of fish were cultivated in the country. Northern lakes and Marine fishing followed, with significantly lower volumes at around 210,000 and 96,000 metric tons. Overall, fish production in the country increased annually in the period observed, however since 2020, it has been dropping.
