The percentage of domestic banks in the United States tightening their standards and terms for business loans in early 2023 was much higher than in the previous year. That applied to business loans for both large and middle-market firms, as well as small firms. Any figure below zero signals that over ** percent of domestic banks had looser lending standards, while figures above zero show that at least half of domestic banks had tighter standards.
