France was the main importer of electricity to Germany in 2022, with almost *** gigawatts of power capacity feeding into the German grid that year. Austria and Czechia followed with *** and five gigawatts of electricity exporting capacity to Germany. The imports from France, Austria, the Netherlands, and Belgium were calculated using the flow-based market coupling algorithm, while the imports from other countries were determined by the Net Transfer Capacity (NTC) calculation.
