The National Bank of Greece (NBG) has decided to terminate its activities in Egypt, while Standard Chartered Bank has started its banking operations in the country as of Q1 2024.
As of June 2024, Egypt registered ** banks operating within its border. This was a drop from the ** banks recorded since 2014. This was following the approval of the board of directors of the central bank of Egypt to merge First Abu Dhabi Bank with Bank Audi Egypt in 2022.
