In 2022, almost 58 percent of the electricity production in the French region ÃŽle-de-France, the region of the capital Paris, was in the form of thermal energy. Bioenergy accounted for another 26 percent of the power mix of the country. By comparison, wind, solar, and hydro energy production made up less than 20 percent of this region's electricity generation.
In 2021, the leading source of energy in France was nuclear power.
