"Days supply" is defined as the number of days that a prescription should last. For example, a prescription of 60 tablets that is taken twice daily has a day supply of 30 days.

In 2023, around 85 percent of zolpidem prescriptions in the United States provided 30 days of supply. Zolpidem is a non-benzodiazepine receptor modulator. It is primarily used in the FDA-approved short-term treatment of insomnia. The drug is usually prescribed for two days to four weeks. It is only prescribed for a short period due to the body getting used to the medicine quickly and the risk of dependency.
