In 2023, more than *** million Chinese patients obtained aids for receiving medical treatments. The number of patients receiving medical aids increased significantly in the past few years. Although most Chinese citizens are now covered by the basic medical insurance program, many still cannot afford adequate medical treatments, largely due to regional limitations and inequalities between employee basic medical insurance and resident basic medical insurance.
