According to a government survey conducted in Japan between September and October 2022, the majority of more than ** percent of respondents stated that the new fee from 2020 has influenced their decisions at the cashier when asked if they would like to receive a plastic bag or not. Even though approximately ** percent of respondents claimed to still take a plastic bag if it is free, around ** percent outright refuse to receive one.
