In 2022, approximately ** percent of survey respondents in the United States (U.S.) stated that they support giving surplus food that is left at the end of the day to charity organizations. Nearly **** percent of respondents strongly supported throwing the food away, while a much higher share of ** percent strongly supported giving it to the staff of the respective establishments for free.
